Staff Appreciation Week

Staff Appreciation is Monday, May 7th through Friday May 11th. Our theme
is Brentwood Teachors and Staff are Out of This Worldl We have many wonderful things planned for the staff at Brentwood, but we need your help! Each class should coordinate details around what to do to specifically honor your teacher and/or other staff. As a guide, we ask you share with your parents the following events so that all have the opportunity to participate and contribute in some way:

Monday: Bring favorite beverage for your teacher. The staff will also have a a Teacher Luncheon provided by the PTA. Parants don’t need to bring anything for this luncheon as lunch will be catered and paid for by the PTA.

Tuesday: Bring a potted plant or your teacher’s favorite flower; there will be a school wide Snack Station; to sign up for snacks register via this

Wednesday: Bring a nice note for your teacher, or a favorite treat. The school will provide breakfast for all of the staff.

Thursday: Bring something that your teacher enjoys from their preference list.

Friday: Class Present (as Home room parent, please add to the details with your class about if you are going to do something collectively for Teacher Appreciation Week).

Thank you for helping to make this an amazing Staff Appreciation Week! With your contributions, we are excited to honor our Staff and treat them well! ln addition to the above activities, with the support of PTA, we are able to raffle over 45 items in giveaways from local retailers to the Staff! The Raffle will take place throughout the week!

April/May 2018 Principal Note

I hope that you had a wonderful Spring Break with your families.  Students shared many fun memories with me about their Spring Break. Encore Night was a big hit in early March!  Unfortunately I missed this even, but I heard there was a great turnout of families who participated in art projects, drum fit, Camp Gladiator sponsored physical fitness stations, and the used book sale.  We also kick started spring break with our annual Pre K-2nd grade Storybook Parade.  I just love watching the kids parade in their wonderful costumes of some of their favorite book characters.

We will begin STAAR Testing this month and continue again in May. Please see the STAAR Information section in this newsletter for more information on campus closures and schedule adjustments.

We are grateful for our families who are sending in individual and class snacks throughout the year. Please remember that we cannot allow students to eat foods of minimum nutritional value during snack time.  They can eat these during lunch, but we encourage students to eat appropriate portions.  We follow this policy for birthday and special occasion snacks as well.  Thank you for your continued support to ensure that our students receive healthy snacks during the school day.

This is our last newsletter for the school year.  There are many upcoming events in April and May and we wanted you to have the calendar and news in advance for planning purposes.  I hope that you can come out to Field Day.  Please consider volunteering during a time slot when your children are not participating.  This event needs many volunteers for a smooth and successful day.

Thank you for sharing your children with us every day and partnering with Brentwood!

Keep Learning,

Amber Laroche
