The school day starts at 7:45am and the school doors open at 7:05am for early risers and breakfast. Students can ONLY enter the building through the front door on Arroyo Seco or the door in the 200 wing in the back of the school. Please do not knock or ask teachers or students to open the 100 or 300 wing doors to enter. Children go to a central location — either the gym or the cafeteria by grade level — and sit with their class until the teacher comes to take them to the classroom. Check with your teacher to find out where your child should go.

If your child arrives after 7:45 a.m., they need to go to the office and get an arrival pass.

On Mondays (Kinder-2nd) or Tuesdays (3rd-5th), students usually start the day with an assembly in the gym. They listen to announcements, highlight weekly lifeskills and social emotional learning lessons, recognize celebrations, show school pride by singing the school song, and say the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas pledge. Sometimes kids read poems or talk about a historical figure.

Children are picked up outside the school in the back at the circular drive on Yates Street. Pre-K and Kindergarten students are picked up outside the backdoor of their classroom. Students are grouped by class or according to whether they walk or carpool, and there is a teacher in charge of each group. Please limit the amount of time your car idles because of the fumes. Drive slowly and watch out for kids walking to school!

Many Brentwood students go to on-site or off-site aftercare. If this is the case, make sure your teacher knows where your child should go.

Someone else picking up your kid? Make sure to write a note to your teacher, especially if that person is not listed as authorized to pick up your child on the registration form. People picking up children should be asked to show I.D.

What if I’m running late and can’t get to school by 3?

Call the office at (512) 414-2039. Children not picked up by 3:10 p.m. are taken to the office.

How do I find out if my child can ride a bus?

Ask at the office or contact AISD.

How does my child get to a school bus, Extend-a-Care or a club after school?

Teachers are supposed to know where every child goes after school, and one of them will take your child to the right place.

What options do we have for after-school?

Learn about afterschool care options available at Brentwood.

There are several afterschool clubs, which change year to year. Check with the office or look for fliers to find out what’s available.

Brentwood Safety Patrol is for 4th and 5th graders who demonstrate the Life Skills and are willing to donate time at the start or end of the school day to help keep younger students safe during the high-traffic times at Brentwood.  Applications go out to interested 4th and 5th graders in September.  Interested students submit a complete application, are chosen and trained and then work from September through June.
