There are three main ways that PTAs support our schools: We advocate for our children, provide our time and energy to the school, and fund-raise for programs that benefit all children at school.
Brentwood PTA’s sole purpose is to advocate for your child’s education and well being. Being a part of the PTA allows you get connected with the school, have access to great resources on the Texas PTA website, speak up for change and progress at Brentwood, be a part of the solution, and serve as a good role model for your child and all the children at our school.
No! Of course we want as many parents as possible to come to our meetings, and we do our best to make them fun and worth your time. But just by joining you’re already helping our school.
Dues are $15 for the first household member, and $10 for a second household member. $4.50 of your dues go to the Texas and National PTA. Everyone who joins Brentwood PTA becomes a member of the state and national groups.

We are happy to offer sponsorships to families who can’t afford the dues. Just write “sponsorship” on the membership envelope under the amount paid.

Brentwood PTA has been a crucial part of making Brentwood a great school for more than 50 years. PTA has bought playground equipment, set up teaching gardens and outdoor learning areas, put library books on the shelves, purchased equipment and supplies for teachers, purchased a climbing wall for the gym and redecorated the teachers’ lounge. We also put on fun events for the kids, including the fall carnival to the Earth Day Festival. See our 2018/18 report here
This year, the PTA is planning on sponsoring our regular events, such as the BooHoo/WooHoo Breakfast for parents of kindergartners on the first day of school, the Fall Carnival, and Brentwood Rocks in the spring, as well as general meetings that address a variety of topics important to parents. We are also helping to fund a variety of programs, services, and teacher support. Our school library is a major beneficiary of PTA funds as well, as we support library collections, both online and in print, online research tools for students, and other library related activities such as guest authors and speakers. We provide funds for the buses to transport 5th graders to and from the Outdoor School, and for fine arts residencies which have previously included a weekly meeting of drama for one semester and dance for the second semester.  We are continuing to purchase student planners for 2nd through 5th graders, as well as organize and fund the tie-dying of class T-shirts that Brentwood is known for. We would also like to build a team to develop various forms of “spirit wear” and other “Brentwood pride” items.  Is there something else you’d like PTA to be involved in? Contact us at
Some money goes to our general fund, which pays for things such teacher supplies, the bus for the 5th graders’ Outdoor School and the Go Green program.  Some fundraisers raise money for specific things, such as library services or playground improvements. The PTA is currently working on building its fundraising team in order to contact many of the new businesses in the area regarding sponsorship of school events and fundraisers.  Every year, PTA members vote on these spending decisions, so make sure to attend the PTA meetings.
The Bulldog Bark, a weekly e-letter, is the best way to find out what’s happening with PTA and at school. The Bark includes information on events such as the carnival, the Earth Day Festival and family picnics in the park. It comes out weekly. We won’t spam you or give your email address to anyone. PTA sometimes sends fliers in the Wednesday folders for important events and meetings. We are also on Facebook! “Like” “Brentwood Elementary PTA” on Facebook and receive all the latest news easily.
